Director Chen Yuxun's previous works were mainly comedies. This time he filmed a story about ordinary people in Taiwan in the 1950s. It tells the story of the heroine A Yue who received the news that her brother was shot dead. She resolutely went north from Chiayi to find her sister A Xia to identify the body. By chance, she met the tricycle driver Zhao Gongdao and developed a bond that went beyond blood ties. Director Chen Yuxun said: "From the time I found this subject to the time I finished making this film, I felt an invisible force pulling me to understand how our ancestors lived in that difficult and bitter era. The process of becoming a Taiwanese today is not easy. Many things in that era were as unclear as fog." "Da Meng" means "covered fog" in Taiwanese. Clouds and fog have important symbolic meanings in the film. Whether in Taiwanese or Mandarin, it is pronounced "Da Meng".
In addition to the super teaser trailer, the international poster designed by Chen Shichuan was also released. Against a misty background, Ke Weilin rides a tricycle with Fang Yuting on a road that looks like a corpse, which makes people suspenseful and curious about what the story of this journey to find the brother will be like. Everyone can look forward to the teaser trailer to be released next week, which will reveal more of the plot.
The film "A Foggy Tale" was produced by Hua Wenchuang Co., Ltd. and cost NT$90 million. The filming locations were all over Tainan, Chiayi and the Ansai Film and Television Base. Another NT$40 million was spent to build the early Taipei civilian building area, Jinshan Street, the market at that time, Fumalin Pond and other important scenes, and reproduce the bustling and prosperous Taipei Rongcheng business district. It is expected to be released in November this year. For more information about the film, please visit the official Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/afoggytale/
