The documentary "I Dreamed a Dream in the Wilderness" crowdfunding project is about to start

▌A lifetime of hard work, just to preserve the sound and shape of this land

Taiwan's first generation of wild photographer Xu Renxiu has been carrying a camera and crossing mountains and ridges for 40 years, from the black bears of Yushan Mountain to the white dolphins on the coast, using images to record the most authentic natural breath of Taiwan. He is not a passer-by, but a companion, not just taking pictures, but waiting.

Keeping with the natural posture and the gentle rhythm of this land, Xu Renxiu has silently recorded the scenery that we are about to forget through images for half his life.

▌When nature becomes a memory, who still remembers that it once existed?

​

From deep mountain streams to coral reefs, Xu Renxiu captured not only animals, but also the history of habitat change.

But as the concrete became more and more and the forest became more and more distant, he began to worry whether these images would become the final record. He wrote "Don't Say Goodbye to Me, Taiwan", which was like a farewell and a request, hoping that this land would have a chance to be remembered.

Xu Renxiu, who is nearly 80 years old, spent five years collaborating with veteran documentary director Shen Keshang for the first time, recording his own story through a documentary and presenting a journey of protecting nature with images.
